Since 1996, CAPE-NM has been dedicated to informing, encouraging, and supporting homeschool families in New Mexico. We are also committed to protecting homeschool freedom. We believe that the liberty of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children is a fundamental right.
To this end, we offer encouragement and resources to homeschool families through Getting Started seminars, email alerts, Fall Family Retreat, and the annual homeschool convention. We also actively monitor state legislation that impacts homeschooling. We have developed relationships with many of our state legislators through personal contacts and through the annual “CAPE at the Capitol” event in order to positively influence the outcome of legislation to maintain our homeschool freedoms. When we become aware of threats to homeschool freedoms in New Mexico which require legal action to defend, we reach out to HSLDA lawyers for assistance. Our partnership with HSLDA is vital to defend against overreaches and legislation that can negatively affect all New Mexico homeschoolers.
While the efforts of CAPE-NM and HSLDA are critical to protecting homeschool freedom, each homeschool family also has a role to play in protecting their own family. You can do this by developing a relationship with your legislators and familiarizing yourself with New Mexico homeschool laws. You can also consider joining and supporting CAPE-NM and HSLDA.
This Giving Tuesday, we are asking you to make a tax deductible donation to CAPE-NM to enable us to continue supporting homeschoolers in New Mexico.
You may also feel led to support HSLDA in their efforts to provide legal support to all states.
The following articles published by HSLDA provide examples of how homeschool freedoms are being threatened and how quickly they can be lost without proper legal support.

Your support allows us to provide essential resources throughout the state that empower parents to understand and fulfill their God-given responsibility of imparting Biblical truth to their children.
