The Battle for the Mind: Parenting with Courage in a Pornified Culture
$6.00
This workshop will attempt to address the challenges of internet safety, pornography, and the culture’s assault on biblical sexuality with helpful, fact-based, and (most importantly) Christ-focused solutions for safeguarding our children’s use of devices and computers, along with helpful ideas for discussing these topics with our children.
Homeschooling does not produce an immunity to the problems of internet safety, pornography, and the culture’s assault on biblical sexuality. Many homeschoolers have just hoped that their children’s lack of exposure to the world and distance from the public school environment will protect them; this has not worked. We need a proactive, well-informed, and relationship-based approach.
This workshop will attempt to address these challenges with helpful, fact-based, and (most importantly) Christ-focused solutions for safeguarding our children’s use of devices and computers, along with helpful ideas for discussing these topics with our children.
Another aspect to this issue is that many parents are also facing difficulties from their own sexual brokenness, and the workshop will address how we as parents can seek healing and health in these areas. We cannot be a safe source of wisdom and healing for our children if we have not sought out and obtained the healing that Christ offers for ourselves.
This workshop covers sensitive topics that parents may not want to expose younger children to.
Ryan Holets is a second-generation homeschooler, husband, and father of six who knows firsthand that raising kids takes courage – especially in today’s culture. Drawing from his own struggles and experiences, he challenges parents to engage in the battle for their children’s minds with wisdom, grace, and Christ-centered hope.
