NOTIFICATION DEADLINE APPROACHING

New Mexico law requires that families notify the state each year by August 1st or within 30 days of beginning your homeschool journey.

There were issues with the NM PED website this year when the site was first opened.   CAPE contacted the PED and was able to work with them to correct the overreach by their department to require more than New Mexico law requires of homeschool families.   You have the option of either notifying using the PED’s electronic form here or by downloading and printing the form here.  If you use the electronic form, CAPE recommends that you keep a copy of your confirmation once you’ve completed the form.  If you choose to download and fill out the paper form, CAPE recommends you send the form via Certified mail so that you will have a receipt of the notification being delivered to the PED.
