What Jesus Means to Me
Throughout my life, Jesus has meant so much to me. Among many other things, He has been a Savior and a Sustainer to me. Having been raised in a Christian home, I cannot remember a time when I did not know His loving care for me. At seven, I began to better understand my need for Jesus as my Savior. Since then, as I have grown, my relationship with Christ has also grown. Through the years, life’s tempests have sometimes buffeted my life and my faith, but, thankfully, they have resulted in deepening my relationship with Christ. During one of the hardest times in my life, my family’s circumstances took a turn for the “worse,” and I began questioning my faith in God. However, in His great faithfulness, God blessed me with the sound advice of my loving parents and Christian friends. Now, because of those hardships, I have gained a deeper faith in Christ and a better understanding of who God is. Through hardship, the words of the hymn How Firm a Foundation have become dear to my heart. In particular, the following section has held and continues to hold great hope for me, “the flame shall not harm thee; I only design Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.” I am eternally grateful for that promise. I have come to Jesus and am comforted that, no matter my circumstances on this earth, He will always continue to shape me and mold me in His image.
